The main function of a plano concave lens is to diverge light rays.Flat concave lenses have a negative focal length and are used to diverge a beam of parallel light.Due to its thinness in the middle compared to the two sides,light rays will be diverged when passing through the lens.This type of lens is commonly used in applications tha require light divergence,such as adjusting the optical path in optical instrument.
